Dr. Kenneth Trimmins
Bio
Dr. Ken Trimmins is an international jazz and classical soloist who performs as a freelance musician, as part of the Phil Morrison-Ken Trimmins Jazz Collective, and leader of his contemporary jazz group called, “Ken Trimmins and The Quiet Storm” as well as the “Ken Trimmins Jazz Quartet”. He has performed for millions in venues ranging from jazz festivals, orchestras and even The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and made a special appearance on syndicated talk show, “Living It Up with Ali and Jack”.
Career Highlights:
After graduating from Valdosta State University, he joined the United States Air Force Band and served as a musical ambassador around this country and around the world, garnering recognition as a jazz and commercial trumpet player and bandleader.
In 2008, became an adjunct music instructor at Armstrong Atlantic State University, Savannah, Georgia.
In 2009, accepted into the Doctoral program at The Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida.
In 2009, appointed Adjunct Professor of Trumpet, at Albany State University
In June 2011 he performed with the Honduran Philharmonic Orchestra in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. U.S. State Department officials heralded his performance as “a great success in our cultural exchange program that enabled us to showcase teamwork at its best.”
2012, Graduated with Doctor of Musical Arts (Classical Trumpet Performance) from The Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida.
As a jazz soloist he performed at The Clearwater Jazz Holiday, The Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival and Atlanta Montreux Jazz Festival
In February 2014 Dr. Trimmins, along with his ‘Classically Jazzed Quartet’, was the featured soloist with the Albany Symphony Orchestra.
Currently Dr. Trimmins is an Associate Professor of Music at Albany State University where he currently directs the Jazz Band, teaches Applied Trumpet, Jazz Improvisation, and Instrumental Conducting, and Music Appreciation courses. He is also the Director and Coordinator of the Albany State University Summer Music and Arts Camp.
